A Hands-On Approach to Learning
The School’s curriculum is carefully tailored from the design and selection of materials to the selection and education of the classroom’s guides. This approach makes it easy for the child to become that special person he/she ought to be. The children are encouraged to develop their observation skills by doing many types of activities that include but not limited to the use of the five senses, kinetic movement, spatial refinement, small and large motor skill coordination, and concrete knowledge that leads later to abstraction. In a Montessori classroom, the students quickly learn to examine a problem carefully, seeking the possibilities, and discovering the solution. Each method, each exercise, and every piece of equipment in the classroom is designed for the children’s inherent desire to learn.
Our French Bilingual Curriculum
The Bilingual Montessori School of Sharon creates a legacy of childhood happiness for the child by instilling love and joy in their hearts while learning another language. The sensitive periods represent a critical point of a child’s development. The sensitive period for language occurs from birth to about age six. It is at this time that the child learns the primary language spoken in the home. The child also has the ability to learn, retain and fluently speak other languages. The French instruction begins when children begin the program at fifteen months. This practice establishes vocabulary and language interest in the child early on. It further allows the child to develop early linguistics awareness which they will carry throughout their adult life.
An International school, The Bilingual Montessori School of Sharon embraces diversity and welcomes families from every corner of the world. Our French Bilingual program attracts local and international parents and especially families from Europe residing in Massachusetts. Our Sharon Campus serves families from Sharon, Canton, Walpole, Foxboro, Easton, Mansfield, Norwood, Brockton, Randolph and other surrounding towns.
Learn About Our Programs
Toddler (15 months to 3 years old)
This is the age when toddlers begin to express their thoughts and building their character. Our program strongly focuses on the four main areas to support their planes of development. The toddlers develop a sense of independence and use the curriculum to enhance their language skills and social development. Language, dancing, water play, climbing, cooking, athleticism, nature and agriculture are all part of the toddler’s life on campus. The classroom guides place great emphasis on fostering independence within the child as they introduce self-directed and carefully planned activities.
The toddler’s development is based on their own curiosity and readiness. BMSS’ program includes “plenty of fun” as one of the bases for teaching. BMSS provides the parents a notebook in which we describe the children’s daily activities, care, and progress to help follow this important stage in their life and to help to cross the bridge to preschool.
Primary / Preschool / Kindergarten (3 to 6 years old)
The preschool classroom is designed for the children’s most sensitive years (between 3 and 6), so they can absorb their information from an enriched environment.
According to Dr. Maria Montessori, “No human educates another human being. He must do it himself or it will never be done.” The goal of a classroom at BMSS is not to fill the child with textbook facts, but rather to cultivate his own natural desire to learn. Our goal is to maintain the proper environment for the children to experience the enthusiasm of learning by making their own choices, and to help the primary students cultivate their own natural desire to learn.

Lower Elementary (Grade 1 through 3)
Children between the ages of 6 and 12 reach the pinnacle of their mental abilities. Now able to form hypotheses, use logic and reason, glean information through research, and make knowledgeable assumptions and suppositions; the child has reached the point of abstract thinking. This is a period of strong social interaction in which the child’s moral compass has advanced beyond the simple idea of fairness, to a desire to not only comprehend why humans act and react as they do but to discover ways of solving societal problems. Students develop both academic and social skills that they will use in their adult professional and private lives. For instance, working with others, group problem-solving, respectful conflict resolution, leadership, empathy, and compassion.

Our New Soccer Field
The inaugural of our Soccer field this past June brought together current families, students, and alumni of BMSS to celebrate this huge milestone. Our Athleticism program includes soccer, baseball, and ice-skating in the winter. This program focuses on helping students become well-rounded young athletes by improving flexibility, mobility, speed, agility, strength, power, and fitness in a safe and effective way. Whether on the field or classroom, our students have the opportunity to practice teamwork while emphasizing being a community.
Crown Farm at BMSS
Our new Crown Farm will enhance our nature program and introduce agriculture on campus. Our Agricultural Curriculum provides our primary and lower elementary students a sensory-based learning and authentic farm related experiences. The lesson plans and companion resources use agriculture as a context for science, social studies, and nutrition education content. We have partnered with Mass Agriculture in the classroom to bring these hands on experiences to our students.
